COVID Protocols August 2021

Dear Mustang Nation:

As we all plan for the first day of school on August 19, I would like to let you know of our current COVID procedures. While we all would have liked to put COVID completely in the past, we are monitoring the current situation and making sure that CISD students and staff are safe. With the situation in our state continuing to change, below is the current guidelines that Mustangs will follow as we begin the year. These guidelines are based on the current direction from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Although we don’t anticipate a change in these guidelines, we will let you know if the TEA or our local health situation require us to modify.

Covid Protocols:

  1. Masks are welcomed but are not required

  2. Students and staff who are diagnosed with COVID will be required to quarantine at home for 10 days from the onset of symptoms AND until they are symptom free without medication for 24 hours.

  3. Although the school will not be doing extensive contact tracing, if your student is in class or may have been in close contact with a student that is diagnosed with COVID, we will send a letter home so that you are aware of it. The school will not be requiring students in this situation to quarantine but you, as a parent, will have the option.

  4. Only in-person instruction will be offered this year. If a student is absent, it will be treated the same way an absence was treated before COVID. The student will have to make up any work missed when they return to school.

The UIL has also lifted the restrictions for athletic events so we will be able to attend Mustangs games and meets as we have in the past.

Please know that we will continue to watch the situation in the state and in our community to ensure that we take any action necessary to protect our students and fellow citizens. And we will do our best to keep you informed if any of these procedures change.

Thank you for your support of our schools and please join me in prayer for our kids and community as we begin another school year.

Go Mustangs!
