  About Our District  
  Claude ISD encompasses 823 square miles in Armstrong County, Texas. CISD is a rural, 1-A
School with a 2006-2007 student enrollment of 353 students. The district is comprised of one
Junior/Senior high school with grades 6 through 12 and one elementary school with grades
PPCD through 5th. CISD is a Texas Education Agency Recognized school district. Community
expectations are evident in the implementation of a conservative dress code while curriculum
and instruction are cutting edge and discipline is research based. CISD is considered by its
learning community to be one of the best kept educational secrets in Texas.

The Claude Independent School District learning community is committed to providing an exemplary
educational experience to all students. The district is operated under the belief that all students can
learn. CISD focuses on meeting varied student needs through a variety of quality curricular and
extracurricular programs and activities. Students have the opportunity to participate in Gifted and
Talented programs, Dual Credit classes in upper level high school, Special Education and 504
programs, Career and Technology and Tech Prep class offerings as well as TEKS (Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills) based core curriculum classes. Claude ISD students can participate in
multiple athletic activities including football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis and golf, cheerleading,
and cross country. FFA, UIL academic competitions, Student Council and National Honor Society offer
students the opportunity to focus on the development of student leadership and academic excellence.

CISD has the best characteristics of a small town school environment with many big school
opportunities which provide Claude graduates with multiple choices on what to do with their life

CISD and the Jr. Sr. High School hold the state accountability standard rating of Recognized for 2005-2006. Claude Elementary school holds a state accountability standard rating of Exemplary.   CISD has a fleet of 5 buses and 3 smaller vehicles which transport 19% of the student body on 8 routes.

Governing Body  

Pupil / Teacher Ratios

Seven elected community members, serving three-year terms, comprise the Board of Education. These trustees serve on a voluntary basis and hold monthly public meetings at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Administrative Office, 5th and Vine, Claude, Texas. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month unless there are conflicts with other important dates.

Registration Information

 
 

Parents moving into Armstrong County should register their children for school as soon as
possible. Armstrong County residents have school district choice depending on their location
and Claude ISD accepts student transfers free of charge with application and administrative
approval. To register your child, parents/guardians will need to bring proof of residence, the name
and address of the child’s previous school, if applicable, and immunization records.
